MediGuide Leads The Charge For Privacy Protection

AHEAD OF THE CURVE—-MEDIGUIDE INTERNATIONAL LEADS THE CHARGE FOR PRIVACY PROTECTION BY ACHIEVING EARLY GDPR COMPLIANCE

Once again MediGuide has set the bar high by becoming fully GDPR compliant well prior to the May 25, 2018 effective date. MediGuide recognizes the absolute vital importance of safeguarding its Member’s protected information. We are vigilant in doing so and it continues to be one of our top priorities.

Each day our valued Members trust MediGuide not only with their personal identifying information (PII) but also their protected health information (PHI). We pay attention to and accept that trust very seriously. We understand that when our Members turn to us for help they are in a vulnerable place, looking to us to help guide them to the right answers for a new diagnosis or chronic medical condition. MediGuide recognizes that often our Member has suddenly been confronted with the knowledge that they have been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. We are aware of and sensitive to the emotional and psychological impacts upon our Member. As a consequence, we want the Member to focus on healing. MediGuide understands that it has a duty to protect its Member from also worrying about the protection of their private data.

For many years, MediGuide has appropriated the proper resources to be in compliance with both the United States’ Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Privacy Shield regulations. As of February 2018, MediGuide is proud to announce that we are also fully complaint with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws within the European Union (EU). GDPR takes effect on May 25, 2018 and will replace the 1995 Data Protection Directive. The changes within the GDPR were proposed by the European Commission and will strengthen and unify data protection for individuals within the EU, including the export of data outside of the EU. If you have an interest in a deeper understanding of this topic, please see our website for more detailed information at www.mediguide.com, and click on Privacy Policy. MediGuide now has a full-time privacy officer, and as an organization MediGuide will continue to proactively implement technical, physical, and administrative safeguards to remain in the forefront of privacy protection methodologies as well as maintain its compliance with international laws and regulations moving forward with GDPR, HIPAA, and Privacy Shield, and those protections instituted by the various other countries of the world.
MediGuide turns 20!

It’s hard to believe but 2018 marks MediGuide’s 20th year in operation. We could not be prouder of the past 20 years spent servicing people all over the world. Helping our members find strength in a time of uncertainty is what the power of a medical second opinion is all about, and we are dedicated to it. We will be sending out a commemorative newsletter in the coming months to share with you some stories of people we have touched and our most exciting milestones over the past 20 years. Stay tuned…
